One of my coworkers came to my desk and told me she wasn’t going to invite me to lunch with the others. We’re cool, and we have a mutual understanding about the Liberation Pledge, so I didn’t feel upset or left out at all. They were planning to go somewhere with meat which is why she said that. I’m just glad she understands and respects me enough to bring it up. She also saw that I had just eaten lunch I brought from home.
As she was leaving my office I called out “go vegan, though!” and she called back “haha, I’m trying.”
Earlier I’d written a paper called Why Eating Animals is Wrong, a brief paper that makes a purely logical argument against eating animals. I printed out 4 copies and handed them to each of my coworkers, asking them to please humor me and give this paper a read. Then I went to my desk and sent them an email containing Vegan Sidekick’s Guide to justifications for harming and exploiting animals.
I’m a bit concerned I just slammed them all really hard at once. I feel kind of awkward now, and I’ve probably just made them all feel awkward, too. In a way it’s kind of hilarious. I just hope it works. Is there anything I could have done better here? Is it bad to hit people with vegan arguments moments before they’re going to go out and eat animals?
